Welcome to The Uptake!

The Uptake is a science newsletter by writer Jordan Blok. Covering everything from biology to linguistics to medical history to man-eating deer to what’s in your dry shampoo. Giving you daily roundups on the latest in science across disciplines, as well as a weekend roundup of my favorite longform pieces/science books I’m reading. I’ll also be dishing up weekly original deep-dive articles that dig a little more into a news story from the past week, as well as occasional pieces I haven’t published elsewhere on random science subjects I’m interested in.

Why subscribe?

The news roundups, both daily and weekly, are and will always be free (I do it cuz I love ya), while the deep-dives and original articles will be subscriber only. I’m also workshopping some other tbd bonus content for subscribers, so stay tuned for updates on that! Since The Uptake is so new and I’m still getting in my groove, all the content on here is gonna be free for a while, probably the next few months (again, so generous I know). However, any of you would like to subscribe before that, it is always greatly appreciated and I would love you eternally. You could walk into a crystal cave, forgotten by man and beast for centuries, and I would still remember and love you.
